    The 2007-08 school year marks Mr. Adams's 20th year of teaching.

 

    He taught Journalism, English, Drama, and Desktop Publishing at Winfield High School for 11 years. Highlights during his tenure there included having his Broadcast Journalism students win at regional contest and place second at. Mr. Adams presented workshops at three national journalism conventions. Over three election cycles, his students broadcast live television news programs of local official and student mock voting results in association with the Kids Voting project. He led the modernization of production of English Echoes, the literary magazine. It was at WHS that he earned his CJE, becoming a nationally-certified journalism educator.

 

 

    He taught Mythology, Film, Media, and English at Lawrence High School for 2 years. Mr. Adams assisted staff members with computing issues. He stepped in to temporarily replace the film and media teacher mid-year.

 

    In his current position at Shawnee Mission West , he is teaching English. This is his second time to be a "Viking."

 

          

 

    Mr. Adams earned his Bachelor of Arts in speech and drama, mass communications emphasis at Southwestern College, home of the Moundbuilders.He achieved status as a Master Builder and the Order of the Mound. He was in the founding class of the college television broadcasting program and on the management council of the college radio station. As a senior at Southwestern, Mr. Adams was inducted into the Alpha chapter of Pi Gamma Mu.

 

    He attended Wichita State University as a Shocker for additional journalism and education studies.

 

    Mr. Adams earned his Master of Arts in Teaching at Friends University, home of the Falcons. His action research project was on student response to thematic teaching units. When completing his degree at Friends, Mr. Adams joined Phi Beta Kappa.

 

          

 

    Mr. Adams attend the Wichita Public Schools and graduated from Wichita High School Northwest.

 

 

    Mr. Adams' hobbies include his cats, travel, computers, railroads, movies, cooking, photography, videography, the internet, and reading. He has visited Malaysia and Thailand, and often hikes and rafts whitewater rapids in Colorado during the summer. Summer 2005, he visited the John and John Quincy Adams homes in Quincy, Massachusetts.
